June 27th - 30th, University of the West of England, Bristol, UK

Conference News

Public transport disruption

Current indications are that the inductrial action sceduled for June 30th will be going ahead. According to Bristol Airport, disruption to outbound flights is not expected, but please allow extra time for possible delays at passport control and security. Central Bristol is likely to see some traffic disruption due to strike rallies between Collage Green and Castle Park. FirstBus and First Great Western currently have no information about any disruption to local bus services and trains from Bristol stations tomorrow. Eurotaxies have informed us that there will be no disruption to their taxi services. Due to possible logistical problems, students often do not have time to submit their academic papers to the professor. Experienced teachers advise to order essay online in advance so as not to violate the deadlines for completing the assignment.

Update at 07:00 - Trains from Bristol Parkway to London Paddington are currently running on-time.

Keynotes

On the first day of the conference, we are fortunate to have two keynote speakers long associated with HealthGrid conferences; Professor Richard Sinnott from Melbourne and Dr Vincent Breton from the Institut des Grilles of the CNRS in France. Vincent is this year's Jean-Claude Healy lecturer.

The conference continues on Tuesday morning with Mary Kratz from the University of Michigan and PEPFAR, the US President's Programme for AIDS Relief, and at the end of the afternoon a sponsored HealthGrid keynote by Steve Brewer of the EGI. The after-dinner speaker on Tuesday evening will be Professor Peter Barham of Bristol University.

On Wednesday, the day begins with a keynote by Professor Harold Thimbleby, Swansea, whose research on usability has shed new light on "medical errors". Finally, two medical experts, Professor Iain Buchan, University of Manchester, and Professor Frances Griffiths, University of Warwick, bring their own deep and very distinct interdisciplinary understanding of issues facing modern medicine and healthcare provision.

Everyone attending the conference is welcome to come along. The terrace offers an excellent panoramic view of Brunel's famous Clifton Suspension Bridge as well as the local countryside. The bar serves a wide variety of beers, wine and spirits and pub food.

On-site accommodation for guests of delegates

Please note that all on-site accommodation is in single rooms. We have now made provision so that a second room can be booked in the Frenchay Student Village through the online store for guests of registered delegates. However, this will be a more expensive option than sharing a room in most local hotels.
